Birendra was born and brought up in Champaran, India, from where Mahatma Gandhi’s famous Indigo Movement took place 100 years ago in 1917. It was first ever movement against bonded labors of farmers. He strongly believes in Principal of Mahatma Gandhi and adopted lifestyle of neednomics (need based economics). He is inspired by Non-Violent and Sustainability movement, and experimenting self-sustainable and self-reliance community development in Champaran. His life purpose is to ensure and establish non-violent and sustainable communities across the world.
To ensure above objective, he is serving India and the world as Vice-President the Global Network for Sustainable Development (http://GNSD.org ), USA based organization. He is Country Director of Non-Violence Project Foundation (http://nonviolence.com ) based in Geneva, Switzerland working in 30 countries and reaching out 8 Million youth and young mind. He is just nominated as executive board member of World Intellectual Forum (http://wifourm.com ).
He is Founder Director of based in Champaran Mahatma Gandhi College of Social Work ( http://mgcollege.info) that will offer degrees among others in social work, peace & non-violence, and sustainability through regular and distance modes.
He sharpen skills and acquired experienced from national and international organizations in India like Pratham (http://pratham.org ), University-Community Partnership for Social Action Network (http://ucpsarnet.org), National AIDS Control Organization (http://naco.nic.in) , Gandhi Research Foundation (http://gandhifoundation.net), Bihar Vidhyapeeth (http://biharvidyapeeth.org ) National Coalition of Education (http://nceindia.org) . He was elected representative of the United Nation Commission on Sustainable Development – Major Group of Children and Youth (UN-CSD).
He has been a visiting faculty of many University in India and abroad, as well as an evaluator of India Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) known as People’s University. He is promoter of two very unique weekly news magazines called Deshaj Darpan which provide voice of people and publish only positive news. He initiated, founded, and mentored many other based on social action and activism not-for-profit organizations in Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, USA, France and India.
He is motivator and promoter of youth leadership and Peace activist and contributed many world-famous initiatives in India, like Child Line 1098, Right to Education Act, Right to Information and Rights of People leavening with HIV/ AIDS. He is known in India as Peace Activist working to ensure Peace with Justice, Human Rights and Sustainability. He uses RTI (Right to Information) and PIL (Public Interest Litigation) as tools to ensure and promote culture of Peace & Nonviolence.
He has motivated and guided more than 1000s of youth across globe to enter in the field of development sector through such events like Em-Peace Labs, World-Parliament Now, Peace Parliament, Peace Assembly. At present he is focused on a very innovative initiative “Peace Clubs for Sustainability, Peace Schools for Sustainability and Peace Dialogues for Sustainability.” He provides technical support on Social Audit, IT Audit , Human Rights, Sustainability , NGO Management and NGO Startup. He widely travelled every corner of India, and visited USA, Netherland, Switzerland, France, Nepal, Pakistan, Srilanka, and China.
