Chen Jianrong is a scholar of international relations, peacebuilding, and conflict transformation. Currently, he is the vice dean of the Department of International Relations, and director of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at Jinan University in Guangzhou, China. Previously, he was visiting scholar at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Rotary International Peace Fellow, the US State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Fellow, and visiting scholar in SIT Graduate Institute, USA. Chen Jianrong is the founder of China's first peace research institute, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at Jinan University. Established in 2012, the institute promotes interdisciplinary peace research and education in China. It also seeks to contribute to peacebuilding at the regional and global levels. To this end, the institute conducts in-depth research on China's internal conflicts as well as international conflicts to which China is a party, provides conflict resolution training, and promotes peace education in China. Since 2010, Chen Jianrong has taught courses on peace studies and conflict resolution to some 2000 undergraduate students from different majors at Jinan University, and he has been very active in the training of conflict resolution for different stakeholders in China and around.
