On Friday, June 7th, I participated in the 4thAnnual Symposium organized by the Sustainability Alliance from Sedona, AZ. Darcy Hitchcock (Founder of the Alliance) and Richard Sidy organized an amazing event with participation of about 40 teachers from whole Arizona. Introductory presentations by Darcy Hitchcock, Jamie Cloud and Richard Sidy triggered a lot of discussions, and there was a lot of time for discussion. I also had an opportunity to present our network.
The symposium was held in the Orme School, a private boarding and day college preparatory school for grades 8 through 12 in Mayer, Arizona, United States. It is located along Ash Creek and surrounded by public land and an operating cattle ranch. Its symbol is the "Quarter Circle V Bar", a name once used for the school and cattle ranch.
The Orme School has been offering opportunities to students for over 80 years. In addition to demanding academics, Orme offers athletics, arts, horsemanship, outdoor leadership and a sense of community that is truly unique among boarding schools. The school also hosts international educational and recreational groups seeking outdoor/camping excursions in a Western environment.
